What We Offer

At Progressive OT Services in Columbus, OH, we believe occupational therapy is the art and science of directing a child’s participation in selected tasks to restore and enhance development and performance. Our treatments facilitate learning of those skills and adaptations for productivity, diminish or correct pathology, and promote and maintain health.

As it relates to pediatric care, an occupational therapist assesses and implements treatment for children who have difficulties or delays with the following:

  • Activities of daily living skills: Self-care skills such as eating, dressing, grooming helps with independence
  • Fine motor skills: Children may have difficulty with movements that require control and precision
  • Handwriting: This can provide clues to developmental problems
  • Motor planning: Apparent clumsiness or slow response to verbal instructions is evidence of difficulty in conceiving and carrying out a non-habitual motor act in the correct sequence
  • Sensory issues: A child’s ability to create a reliable picture of the world around him or her depends upon the brain’s ability to effectively integrate the information gathered by the senses
  • Visual motor/visual perception: Many symptoms can indicate problems with the brain’s understanding of what the eyes see or the use of vision to perform tasks like writing and drawing
